Jonathan is Home For Christmas!

Jonathan arrived in Manila from England on December 16 where he had been staying with an English Family for three months.

Previously to that he had an exciting 8 months working on the cruise ship the Norwegian Jewel as manager of the fitness gym. The ship toured the Caribbean Islands and the Baltic Capitals in Europe. He has some amazing pictures of the places he has visited, met some wonderful people and has many great experiences too. Whilst on the ship he met Marika who works for the same company as he. She is a South African.

Fire Drill was part of his training. Here he is pictured on the far left

It is so good to have him home again with us and to be complete as a family for Christmas...

Meanwhile Joanna had her last day of school today (Dec 17) She will return to school for probably two more weeks in January and then she is done for ever with High school!
Early this month she and her classmates were making cookies at our home as a fundraiser to help a local orphanage near their school...They did very well and sold out of the cookies after a very short time. Good old Kiwi recipes! ha ha!

The packaging of the cookies was quite special too!

The Annual Christmas Teddy Bear Ministry

Every Christmas Eve the Expatriate Missionary Ladies of Baguio do a little ministry together at the Baguio General Hospital Maternity and Children's wards.

During the month of December we prepare soft toys for all the patients with a little colouring book telling the story of the birth of Jesus/and with a salvation message. We tie these booklets around the necks of the soft toys along with a box of crayons.

On Christmas Eve along with our families we sing Christmas Caroles in the wards , a short message is given by one of the husbands and then we pray. Afterwards we distribute these toys to the patients and give a bag of goodies to the watchers (patients care givers), doctors and nurses.

Here we are preparing the toys in the home of one of our longest staying missionaries.
(She has been here for 35 years!)

Here are some of the ladies preparing the paper bags of goodies...
...making sure that one bag doesn't have more than the other!!
